Grow your career, not just your caseload.

Becoming an exceptional therapist takes more than a graduate degree. It takes experience, curiosity, sound clinical judgment, and a commitment to lifelong learning.

At The Artful Life Counseling Center & Studio, we believe clinicians do their best work when they're supported, challenged, and connected to a community of professionals who are equally invested in providing excellent care.

We're seeking provisionally licensed mental health clinicians who bring meaningful experience in mental health or human services, have experience working with children and adolescents and enjoy providing therapy to these populations, and are ready to deepen their clinical skills in a collaborative outpatient setting.

This is an opportunity to build a meaningful, long-term career within a practice that invests in its people.

Who We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in clinicians who have developed a foundation in mental health, behavioral health, or human services through their education and professional experience.

You'll thrive at The Artful Life if you:

  • Have experience working with children and adolescents, genuinely enjoy these populations, and are open to expanding your clinical skills across different developmental stages.
  • Approach clinical work with curiosity, humility, and an understanding that there is always more to learn.
  • Engage actively in supervision and consultation, bringing curiosity, openness, and a commitment to continually strengthening your clinical skills.
  • Communicate with kindness, professionalism, and respect, even when navigating difficult conversations or differing perspectives.
  • Understand the responsibilities of outpatient practice, including consistent client engagement, caseload management, timely documentation, and ethical care.
  • Value being part of a clinical community where colleagues learn from, challenge, and support one another.
  • Are motivated to develop your clinical expertise and build a sustainable, long-term career in mental health.

We welcome clinicians with varied professional backgrounds, including those entering the field as a second career. We value the perspective, transferable skills, and life experience that contribute to thoughtful clinical practice.

What You'll Do

  • Provide Meaningful Clinical Care: Deliver relationship-centered, trauma-informed outpatient therapy to children, adolescents, and adults, including clients navigating significant emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges.
  • Build and Maintain Your Caseload: Maintain a full-time caseload of 22–26 clients per week, with a genuine commitment to providing consistent, high-quality care.
  • Develop Your Clinical Skills: Participate actively in individual and group supervision, peer consultation, and ongoing professional training.
  • Practice with Accountability: Maintain timely clinical documentation, manage caseload responsibilities, communicate proactively, and seek guidance when clinical situations require additional support.
  • Contribute to Our Community: Collaborate with colleagues, participate in team meetings, and help cultivate a respectful, engaged, and supportive clinical environment.

Qualifications

Required

  • Master's degree in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, or a related clinical mental health discipline.
  • Eligibility to provide clinical services in Massachusetts under the appropriate supervision and licensure pathway.
  • Relevant professional experience in mental health, behavioral health, or human services.
  • Demonstrated experience providing mental health or therapeutic services to children and adolescents, with an interest in continuing to work with both populations.
  • Ability to provide primarily in-person clinical services at our Salem and Beverly offices.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, organizational skills, and commitment to ethical clinical practice.

Strongly Preferred

  • At least one year of post-master's clinical or mental health experience.
  • Experience working therapeutically with younger children, ages 3–8, using developmentally appropriate approaches.
  • Experience in community mental health, schools, outpatient care, residential treatment, or other direct-service environments.
  • Experience supporting individuals with complex emotional, behavioral, or relational needs.
  • Interest in creative, expressive, or integrative approaches to psychotherapy. Prior specialized training in these approaches is not required.

Your Growth Matters Here

We believe that becoming an excellent therapist is a lifelong process and that meaningful professional development requires more than accumulating clinical hours.

At The Artful Life, we invest in clinicians who are invested in their own growth.

Our professional development and clinical support include:

  • Weekly individual clinical supervision at no cost for provisionally licensed clinicians.
  • Group supervision and peer consultation.
  • Structured onboarding, mentorship, and ongoing clinical support.
  • In-house training and continuing education opportunities.
  • Paid administrative time for required meetings and trainings.
  • CEU reimbursement and opportunities to expand clinical specialties.

We also offer opportunities to grow within an established practice, from provisional to independent licensure and, as experience and opportunities align, into senior clinical, mentorship, and supervisory roles.

You won't be expected to navigate challenging clinical work alone. We believe consultation, collaboration, and learning from one another are essential to providing excellent care.
